SDI Miami is excited to announce Dr. Rebecca Homkes will be delivering a talk entitled, “Leading Strategy Execution through Uncertainty,” at the conference in October. Dr. Homkes was a co-author on the much cited article in Harvard Business Review, “Why Strategy Execution Unravels – and What to Do About it.”
Biography
Dr. Rebecca Homkes is a Teaching Fellow at the London Business School (LBS)’s Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship as well as its Centre for Management Development. She is also a Fellow at the London School of Economics’ Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and a Director at the Ashridge Strategic Management Centre (ASMC). The founder and director of 21st Century Strategy, a boutique consultancy firm, she works with CEOs and executive teams of the top global companies and fast-growing enterprises on developing and executing strategies for growth, especially when facing extreme uncertainty.
Homkes is also a co-founder of corporate innovation consultancy Next Wave Innovation and a strategic advisor and mentor at GrowthX and GrowthX Corporate, where she combines her experience scaling entrepreneurial start-ups and advising organisations attempting to embed more innovative ways of working and translate innovation into value creation. Homkes also is the director of a global Young President’s Organisation (YPO) progamme focused on strategy and execution for growth for a group of its member companies. She is a member of several advisory boards, directed the joint McKinsey & Co/ CEP Global Management Matters project since 2007, and has written for publications such as the Harvard Business Review, Businessweek, Fortune, and Forbes with her work also featured in the Economist, Financial Times, and Fast Company.
A Marshall Scholar, she received her PhD and MSc from the London School of Economics in International Economy and was Indiana University’s top graduate and its sole Herman Wells Scholar, where she earned a BS (Honours) in business administration with majors in finance, accounting and international studies alongside a BA (Honours) in Political Science. She previously served as a Fellow at the White House’s President’s Council of Economic Advisors and has worked in management and strategy consulting for Bain & Co. in Chicago.
